The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

In February this year, the Queen became our first Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee – seven decades at the helm of Great Britain. And to mark this incredible milestone, a four day weekend with celebrations across the country will take place in June, including a host of activity in Chelsea.

Eggs of an Era

Seven egg-shaped sculptures form a magnificent art trail across the neighbourhood, in place from 16 May to 12 June. Each unique design by a leading artist represents a decade of the Queen’s 70 year reign and are raising vital awareness of the impact of poaching and collecting eggs from the wild. Can you spot the three at the Square? Find out more here.

The King’s Road Street Party

On Saturday 4 June, from 11am to 6pm, you are invited to join us for the King’s Road Jubilee Street Party. Pedestrianised from Sloane Square to Cheltenham Terrace, we will be coming together for a day of merriment with an abundance of activity for all to enjoy.

A special Jubilee edition of the Fine Food Market will take place on the green opposite Saatchi, collaborating with the Royal Commonwealth Society offering delicious food representative of flavours from constituent nations. Bars from Partridges, King’s Road institution, The Cadogan Arms and a Moet & Chandon terrace (complete with swing… hello, Instagram!) will provide plenty of opportunities for celebratory toasts, and visitors can picnic on the grass, on one of our regal deckchairs or special banqueting table fit for royalty!

Local cultural destinations will have showcases throughout the day, from street art with the Saatchi Gallery, encouraging families to contribute to a live Jubilee memento, Gruffalo storytelling with Peter Jones and the Royal Hospital with the Chelsea Pensioners enacting a special ‘pace sticking’ display. Plus, expect brass bands, steel bands, crown and sword making workshops, face painting and dance classes throughout the day – and of course, plenty of music to dance, jive and swing to!

Find the full programme on the King’s Road website here.

Chelsea in Bloom displays

For the very first time, visitors can enjoy an extended run of Chelsea in Bloom. Themed to perfectly coincide with the Jubilee, the central installations at Sloane Square and Duke of York Square and along Pavilion Road, Sloane Street and the King’s Road, will remain in place to admire in awe until Sunday 5 June. Many participants will also have their displays in place for this extended period of time too – don’t forget to scan the QR codes by your favourite display to download a map of what’s on and where.
