Emma Forbes & Gemma Sheppard Salute Valentines Style

Emma Forbes & Gemma Sheppard Salute Valentines Style

I never need an excuse to hit Duke of York Square on the King’s road for any ‘themed’ event. Valentine’s day is right up there. Whilst some people are content with some roses or a card…Gemma and I are more into finding different gifts from fashion to food!! Also Valentines is a time to go and treat yourselves – and Duke of York Square is frankly – the perfect destination!!

Joseph is one of both Gemma and my favourite haunts for classic staples to put in your wardrobe..if you want to ‘hint’ to your hubby/partner that you would prefer a ‘gift’ than roses or chocolates then why not steer him towards one of their classic military jackets…currently loving their own label navy military coat with red piping…timeless. Whilst we’re with fashion we’d be delighted with a Ted Baker ipad case, complete with sweetheart bow – a cute but subtle Valentine’s gift. For those looking to be a bit more obvious with their intentions we love the Wrap Me Up scarf and Hug Me hot water bottle by Marcus Lupfer from Whistles

If you’re looking for a Valentine outfit, we recommend Zara’s current collection. Our full on Valentine show stopper is the Ted Baker Jamthun red dress.

Saatchi and Taschen are both unusual but inspiring date destinations, we’ve spotted the gorgeous LOVE sign at the famous gallery and at Taschen we whole heartedly recommend the book Paris, Portrait of a City .

Partridges takes food shopping to the next level and at Valentine’s comes into their own. If you want anything from heart-shaped cookies or cakes – then you need to go there – and let’s not forget their extensive range of USA food/sweets. Heaven. Also, if food is the way to your Valentine’s heart, you’ll find every possible treat at the market on Saturday mornings, personally we would swoon over any of the incredible cupcakes from Crumbs and Dollies or the nut and berry mix from Yellow Sunshine.

Valentine’s can be all about creating the right mood and a little scent goes a long way; Diptique Roses Candles at Space NK are divine as is the REN Moroccan Rose oil, also at Space NK. For a full on relaxing treat Richard Ward’s Metrospa is the place to be pampered and their Tangle Angel Detangling Brush is our kitsch present pick!

As for a romantic rendezvous don’t let the fact that they specialise in ‘ice cream’ put you off a date with Gelateria Valerie; their blood orange sorbet is a taste sensation. For hearts that need warming you won’t go wrong with a steaming hot chocolate at any of the cafés, , and simply enjoy each other.

Everything they have talked about is here on the Duke of York Square dedicated Pinterest board.

Emma Forbes and celebrity fashion stylist Gemma Sheppard are SalutingStyle which is for anyone who has ever said ‘I have nothing to wear!’ We’re women, we’re mums, we work, we run homes, we know what it is like to be busy but also want to feel good about ourselves which we know comes from being confident in what you’re wearing. With SalutingStyle, rather than bowing to trends and fashions, we’re gently and empathetically guiding women on how to find the looks that suit them and make them feel great.
