Women's Month at Polpo
Mother’s Day and International Women day fall very close together this year and throughout March, Polpo will be celebrating all women nationwide.
On 8 March is Fiesta della Donna, or International Women’s Day as we know it. This holiday originated in Italy when women took to the streets in solidarity for their recently emigrated sisters killed in a tragic fire in a New York factory having recently protested about their working conditions. The Mimosa flower, brightly coloured and with a wonderful scent, became symbolic of this moment. To this day, men still give these flowers to their wives, mothers, sisters and daughters to show their appreciation. Polpo will be doing just that; all women dining at the restaurant on International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day will be given a beautiful bunch of Mimosas to take home.
