Pancakes at Duke of York Square

Shrove Tuesday inspiration at the Square

Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, falls on 13 February and is the traditional day of feasting before Lent in the run up to Easter. Here at the Square we couldn’t be more excited about what’s on offer and how to get your pancake fix. You’d ‘batter’ sit down for these…

If you’ve got time for a leisurely brunch, Manicomio’s Poco Café has some of the most indulgent pancakes. Sit down to buttermilk pancakes with either blueberries, crème fraiche and maple syrup (£6.25) on top or crispy bacon, fried egg and maple syrup (£7.50).

For those on-the-go, the ever-popular L’Amouse-Bouche will on hand, outside Partridges, serving delicious crepes and galettes ready to take away with you.

If you prefer to make your own, Partridges have made it that extra bit easier with ready-made mixture (£4.69) so you can spend less time cooking and more time eating. Don’t forget the toppings either; if you prefer the sweeter sort, grab some lemon and sugar, Nutella (£3.49) and bananas or Maple Syrup (£6.25) for your sugar kick. Or if you prefer a savoury alternative, we recommend horseradish pancakes with smoked salmon or for something a little more filling, mix mashed potato with your pancake mix and place streaky bacon and scrambled eggs on top. Delicious!
