Next time you’re tucking into a delicious Vardo feast or bouncing around the Square from store to store, don’t forget to look up – the Vardo roof terrace has had a makeover! Reminiscent of a far-flung Mediterranean destination, the roof terrace is a beautiful spot to sip on a glass of champagne.
Architectural, spiky plants complement the sculptural form of Vardo and stand out against the white, concrete walls. Structural evergreens have been mixed with ultra-long flowering perennials and a true highlight, for green-fingered visitors, are the blue-beaked Yuccas and the rare multi-stemmed Yuccas that really give make a statement. Unusual Mexican grass trees spiral up close to the stairway, radiating symmetrically from the wooden trunks. And unmissably, the Agapanthus’ – huge white and blue pom-poms that flank the balconies and are sure to draw your eye up (luring you in for a glass of fizz!).
This summer, whilst jetting off to exotic destination remains a dream still for many, the Square is your next best-bet. Now we just need the sunshine…!
