Family Fun in the Sun

School’s out for Summer! Looking for some great ways to entertain the family this holiday? Look no further than here at the Square for inspiration…

BFG Dream Jar Trail

Have you visited our ‘gloriumptious’ dream jar yet? Celebrating the launch of Spielberg’s new film adaptation of one of our favourite children’s books, the BFG, our dream jar is part of a fun London wide trail, which sees celebrities capture their dreams, realised as sculptures bottled in super-sized Jars.

Here until 31 August, we’re delighted that our ‘phizz-whizzing’ sculpture is designed by renowned fashion designer Henry Holland. His dream is of becoming a popstar and the Jar is decorated with polka dots, a nod to the world of fashion and the rich retail offering here at the Square.

Designed to be of perfect height for children, why not snap a souvenir photo and share your visit on social media using #BFGDreamJars and tag us with @DOYSQ?

Tiny tots love Trotters

If you’re after some gorgeous new outfits for your little ones, Trotters has a great range of clothes and accessories, from elegant Alice bands to Liberty print canvas shoes. And since children’s hair tends to get a little unruly over the summer with all that sunshine, swimming and fresh air, why not get tiny tots booked in early for that ‘back to school’ cut? Even children love coming in to sit in front of the tropical fish aquarium– the perfect distraction as they get their locks done! Plus the stores’ hairdressers are trained to understand children’s moods, so know plenty of ways to ensure a happy haircut for both mummy and baby.

Children’s menus at the Square

Looking for foodie options that even the fussiest children will like? There’s plenty of choice here at the Square.

For a hearty lunch or dinner for children who enjoy being adventurous with food, why not head to Comptoir Libanais? The restaurant’s children’s menu provides a range of delicious dishes, including yummy cheese and tomato flatbread, wraps and grilled chicken and rice, perfect for refuelling after a day of shopping and exploring. Plus, every children’s meal also includes a tasty lemonade and small frozen yogurt for a little sweet treat.

For a special afternoon indulgence, we recommend Gallery Mess for an afternoon tea the whole family will love. We can’t get enough of the Origamitea designed for children – Including scrummy sandwiches, a cupcake and babycino, tiny tots can get stuck into the accompanying fun origami kit.  Not only is this stimulating for their minds, it also acts as a great distraction so that mums can have a moment to relax!

Adults will also enjoy the afternoon tea at Gallery Mess, a luxurious confection of scones, brownies and macaroons. If you’re in need of a tipple, consider treating yourself to the champagne tea – or for something extra naughty, add a Pimm’s o’clock pitcher to round off your afternoon in the sun.
