It’s hard to believe that HM The Queen is turning 90! Did you know she’s now the UK’s longest-ever serving monarch? We love to celebrate landmark occasions at the Square and will be treating visitors to some jolly good treats on Sunday 12th June. As street parties kick off over the weekend, why not pay us a visit? We will be hosting our own celebrations to see in the royal birthday in style…
We’re working with the Royal Commonwealth Society, one of HM The Queen’s favourite causes, to bring you a special Sunday Fine Food Market. Let your taste buds be transported to flavours from 25 different nations, including Ghanaian stews, Sri Lankan egg hoppers and Indian teas, all freshly made and mouth-wateringly delicious.
Once you’ve perused the stalls, hop across the Square to join in the birthday celebrations. HM The Queen is a fan of jazz – there will be live music from London based jazz band, the Dixie Ticklers, who will play the likes of Alexander’s Ragtime Band, a song heard at Buckingham Palace more than a century ago. There’s even a grass dancefloor if you fancy cutting some shapes!
There will be balloons and the Square’s very own Queen, who will grace us with her presence during the celebrations. Don’t miss the cake cutting moment at 3pm where the band will perform a special rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’!
Join us at the Square on Sunday 12th June between 11am and 5pm.
